CUMMING - Officials have released the name of the woman killed early Monday morning in a head-on collision on Keith Bridge Road at Mayfield Drive.
Forsyth County Sheriff's Captain Frank Huggins said 18-year-old Cory Thomas Esco was driving eastbound on Keith Bridge Road when, for reasons unknown at this time, his car crossed the center line and collided head-on with the car being driven by 72 year-old Ruby Peckham.
Huggins said Peckham was killed instantly. He said Esco was transported by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with unspecified injuries.
The wreck caused Keith Bridge Road to be shut down for over two hours while the wreckage was cleared.
Authorities say charges may be filed once the investigation into the exact cause of the accident is complete.
