Florida Guard Vincent Williams Signs with Bulldogs

By staff reports
ATHENS -- University of Georgia basketball coach Mark Fox on Thursday announced the signing of Vincent Williams, a guard from Homestead, Fla., to a national letter of intent to attend UGA and play next season for the Bulldogs.

Williams, at 6-foot-1 and 160 pounds, is currently a senior at South Dade High
School in Homestead. As a senior for the Buccaneers, he averaged a team-high 26 points per game, as well as 5.9 assists, 2.5 steals and 2.6 rebounds per contest. He was named to the All-Dade County second team by the Miami Herald newspaper.

"We are very happy to have Vincent join our program," Fox said. "Our team is going to need depth on the perimeter and outside shooting ability. Vincent provides us with both of those. Just as important, he really wants to be a Georgia Bulldog. We are looking forward to having him join us."

Williams is the first prospect to sign with Georgia during the national spring signing period, which concludes May 20. He joins DeMario Mayfield, a 6-4 guard from Carnesville, who signed with the Bulldogs last November, as Georgia's two signees for 2009 thus far.
