WINDER - A water study committee says Barrow County will run short of drinkable water by 2020 if the county government doesn't start planning soon to increase the supply.
Stan Coley is chairman of the committee that was appointed by the board of commissioners in 2007. He said there are at least 10 potential reservoir sites in the county that can be developed.
Barrow County has the right to take about 11 million gallons a day from the Bear Creek Reservoir.
Meanwhile, counties throughout the state are easing outdoor water restrictions, including two more served by the Bear Creek Reservoir Clarke and Oconee. Jackson County announced earlier this week that it was relaxing restrictions.
