OAKWOOD - The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) will close one lane of Mundy Mill Road in Oakwood overnight tonight as work continues on the reconstruction of Exit 16.
The work will take place between 7:00 tonight and 7:00 tomorrow morning.
GDOT officials say I-985 northbound exit ramp to Exit 16, SR 53/Mundy Mill Road and SR 53/Mundy Mill Road under the interstate will all be affected. Crews will be working in the eastbound lanes of Mundy Mill Road while the westbound lanes are converted for one lane in each direction to allow traffic to continue to flow through the area.
Crews will be removing old asphalt and putting down new asphalt on Mundy Mill Road under the interstate.
Traffic will be shifted and reduced to one lane in each direction. Traffic coming off the interstate on the northbound exit ramp will be forced to turn right as crews will be working in the left turn area. Traffic can continue up Mundy Mill Road about 500 feet and make a U-turn to travel on Mundy Mill Road westbound.
