7-AAA golf tournaments tee off today, Thursday

JASPER -- Region 7-AAA's top prep golfers will gun for a region title and a shot at state starting today and into tomorrow.

The region's top girls golfers will compete for a 7-AAA crown on Wednesday at Big Canoe Golf Club in Jasper, while 7-AAA's boys will compete on Thursday at Chattahoochee Golf Club in Gainesville.

The top two teams from each tournament will qualify for the state tournament, to be played on May 4. The top medalist from each tournament will also qualify for state, regardless of whether or not his or her team also qualifies.

The state tournaments for Class AAA will take place in east Georgia. The boys will play at Waynesboro Country Club, while the girls will tee off at Applewood Golf Course in Keysville.
