Clayton wins battle to be Hokies No. 2 QB

By The Associated Press
BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Joseph ``Ju-Ju'' Clayton will be Virginia Tech's No. 2 quarterback.

Hokies coach Frank Beamer said Monday that Clayton beat out fellow redshirt freshman Marcus Davis for the backup role behind Tyrod Taylor in spring practice.

Clayton, a dual-threat player who starred at Hermitage High School in Richmond, will put his talents on display Saturday in the Hokies' annual Maroon-White spring game.

Beamer said that because of his elusiveness, Davis will begin working at wide receiver immediately to give him a chance to get on the field. Beamer said Davis is not out of the mix at quarterback down the road and that he's been encouraged to work on his arm strength.
