NBG to move into old GB&T headquarters building

By B.J. Williams
GAINESVILLE - The National Bank of Georgia has purchased the old Gainesville Bank & Trust headquarters building on Jesse Jewell Parkway and will move in later this month.

NBG has been operating in Gainesville since 2007, but its focus has been primarily on the business market. Billy Glosson, the regional president for NBG, said that focus will expand once operations move out of the 6th floor of the Wachovia office tower.

"By moving into that building (the GB&T building), that will allow us to serve the entire consumer base in the Gainesville/Hall County market," said Glosson.

Glosson says that NBG sold property in the Braselton area where it operated a branch and will reinvest that money into the building at 500 Jesse Jewell Parkway.

The move will take place by the end of the month, according to Glosson, and a grand opening will occur sometime in May.
