Dogs give largest crowd ever at Foley Field a win

ATHENS -- Joey Lewis and Lyle Allen homered and Georgia pitchers combined to throw their fourth shutout of the season in a 4-0 win over in Mississippi State Saturday in front of 4,461 fans, the largest crowd in Foley Field history.

Georgia improved to 18-2 overall, 3-2 in league play and 13-0 at Foley Field, its best home start in school history. The 2006 team won its first 12 home games.

Lewis hit a solo home run in the fifth and Lyle Allen gave Georgia a 4-0 lead with a three-run homer with two outs in the eighth.

Michael Palazzone (2-0) allowed just one hit in three innings to pick up the win, and Will Harvil and Dean Weaver pitched the final two innings to seal the Bulldogsâ
