UNDATED - With spring fast approaching and a few warm, sunny days under our belt, the thoughts of many are turning to fun in the sun... and on the water. And, north Georgia lakes continue to rise, a big turn around from this time last year.
The level of Lake Lanier is now 7.1 feet higher than it was just three months ago - on December 9 - when it suddenly began to rise just as it appeared that it was going to break a one-year-old record for all-time low. The level Wednesday morning was 1058.17. A year ago it was 1054.65... 3.52 feet lower than Tuesday. Still, Lanier is almost 13 feet below full pool.
Allatoona Lake - in northwest Georgia - is making a comeback as well, and is now only 5 feet below full pool. It is at the same level it was a year ago.
