Motorist robbed at intersection

By Ken Stanford Contributing Editor
GAINESVILLE - A motorist was robbed at gunpoint while sitting at a south Gainesville intersection early Friday morning.

The victim told police he was stopped for the traffic light at Athens Street and Martin Luther King, Jr., Boulevard when a man approached his car, pulled a gun and demanded money. The robber got what he wanted and fled on foot.

Lt. Keith Lingerfelt of the Gainesville Police Department says the only description they have is that the suspect was black and was wearing dark-colored clothing.

Tracking dogs were brought in but the suspect remains at large.

The motorist was not hurt.
