By Staff
GAINESVILLE - Parker Ramey, a sixth grade student at C.W. Davis Middle School, placed second in the 2009 District Spelling Bee Competition, which was held recently at Collins Hill High School in Gwinnett County.

As the runner-up, Ramey will join the district winner, Angela Mo, at the state spelling bee March 20 at Georgia State University.

Mo, a seventh-grader at Creekland Middle School in Gwinnett, seized her opportunity after Ramey incorrectly spelled "euploid." Mo correctly spelled that word and bagged the district title by spelling "idiopathy."

Parker Ramey, the son of Jones Elementary Principal Hank Ramey, has won two consecutive Hall County Spelling Bee Championships.
