GAINESVILLE - Friday was the final day for early and advance voting in Gainesville for next Tuesday's SPLOST referendum with about 2,000 votes cast.

All of the Hall County's polling places will be open Tuesday for those who have not already cast a ballot.

By mid-afternoon Friday, the number who had voted since Feb. 17 when early voting began totaled 1,658. That's out of 86,260 registered voters, according to officials with the county elections office.

Sample ballots are available by mail, in the elections office on Browns Bridge Road or on the Hall County Web site.

SPLOST VI calls for an extension of a levy that is scheduled to expire June 30.
