Tennessee football reports minor violations

By staff reports
KNOXVILLE -- After being reprimanded by the Southeastern Conference last week, Tennessee football Coach Lane Kiffin was scolded by his own university for two recruiting violations on Tuesday.

The Volunteers reported two secondary infractions that occurred when recruits came to Knoxville for official visits in January.

The first violation involved a fog machine that was used during a recruit's visit to Neyland Stadium. The second violation involved nine prospects who took part in a mock press conference at the media center inside Neyland.

Schools are prohibited from simulating a game experience for recruits during official visits.

This developed after Kiffin accused Florida coach Urban Meyer of recruiting violations last week and was reprimanded by SEC commissioner Mike Slive.
