LAGRANGE - More than 1,000 people showed up in LaGrange Monday to apply for 600 jobs at a plant that will help supply the Kia automotive assembly plant in West Point.
The plant plans to fill 300 of those $10-an-hour positions this year and hundreds of people were in line early Monday as state labor officials began processing applications.
Labor department spokesman Sam Hall says department staff had helped people fill out more than 300 applications by midmorning.
The plant Sewon America plant still has not been built and the Kia plant is still under construction.
