ELLIJAY - The North Hall girls basketball team pushed No. 5 Gilmer the entire way but came up short in the fourth quarter in a 53-49 Region 7A-AAA loss on the road.
North Hall (8-15, 3-7 in subregion) had an early lead in the first quarter but fell behind 18-14 at halftime. The Lady Trojans fought back to trail just 31-30 heading into the fourth quarter.
Both teams got hot in the final period but Gilmer (20-3, 10-0) outscored North Hall 22-19 down the stretch to escape with the win.
Sara Jones led the Lady Bobcats with 21 points. Kylie Smith added 10 for Gilmer.
North Hall was led by Mary Kate Rushton with 10 points. Taylor Tate and Taylor Swoszoski each had nine points for the Lady Trojans.
