NORCROSS - The Class AA No. 1-ranked Buford girls built a quick first quarter lead and then cruised to a big Region 6-AA 54-37 win over rival Greater Atlanta Christian Friday night.
The Lady Wolves (20-1, 10-0 in region) led 17-9 after the first quarter and then extended it to 29-19 by halftime. The Lady Wolves blew the game open with an 18-6 third quarter.
Blanche Alverson scored 22 points to lead Buford. Jocelyn Danley added 11 for the Lady Wolves, who have now won 19 straight games.
No. 9 GAC (15-8, 9-3) was paced by Chaney means with 14 points. The loss snapped the Lady Spartans' seven-game win streak.
