Girls basketball: North Hall gets defensive in win over West Hall

MURRAYVILLE - For the North Hall girls basketball team it all starts with the defense. They used a suffocating defense to win the Lanierland Tournament but showed Wednesday they are getting even better.

The Lady Trojans held West Hall scoreless in the first quarter and cruised to a 42-20 win in Region 7-AAA action.

North Hall (9-2) led 21-0 after the opening period and took a 23-6 lead into halftime. West Hall (2-9) never got closer than 20 points the rest of the way.

While the defense was doing its job the North Hall offense got balancing scoring. McKenna Rushton, Mary Kate Rushton, and Paige Stewart all had eight points to lead the Lady Trojans.

West Hall was paced by Brooke Reed with six points. Bailey Soucie and Jessica Dambach each had five points for the Lady Spartans.
