ATLANTA - The latest report on unemployment shows the jobless rates are down a bit in both Metro Gainesville and Northeast Georgia.
The Northeast Georgia rate declined a tenth of a percent from a month ago to 9.7 percent. The Metro Gainesville rate is 9 percent, a decline of .2 percent since the last report.
Meanwhile, the number of unemployed workers in Metro Gainesville decreased by 168, from 8,265 in October to 8,097 in November.
Banks, Jackson and White counties were among the places in northeast Georgia when the unemployment rates increased.
In November 2008, there were 5,917 jobless workers in metro Gainesville, when the unemployment rate was 6.4 percent. The number of payroll jobs in metro Gainesville in November 2009 was 74,000, a loss of 3,800, or 4.9 percent, from 77,800 in November 2008.
