GAINESVILLE - A second information session (at 4:00) on Hall County's DaVinci Academy was added to Monday's schedule because of the response to the series of meetings that was held last week.
Dr. Sally Krisel, Assistant Director of Teaching and Learning for the Hall County School System, says four meetings that were held last week probably attracted about 200 people.
The DaVinci Academy is for middle school students and while a significant percentage of DVA students have been identified as "gifted," Dr. Krisel says that is not a prerequisite for admission. It is a division of South Hall Middle School (situated on its former campus) that, according to its Web site, "uses student interest in the arts and/or sciences as the foundation for advanced learning in all content areas."
Students interested in attending the DaVinci Academy in the next school year have until Jan. 11 to get their applications in.
