CLEVELAND - White County used a 10-2 opening quarter to grab the lead and then held on to beat Dawson County 50-42 Saturday in girls basketball action.
Freshman Allie Costley paced Dawson County (7-3) with 12 points. Natalie Parker and Jessi Phillips had eight points each and Kenna Seitz had six points for the Lady Tigers.
White County (3-2) icreased its lead to 23-12 by halftime and the lead stayed at 11 with the Lady Warriors taking a 41-30 lead into the fourth quarter.
Dawson County outscored White County 12-9 in the final period but could get no closer.
Dawson County next will travel to Walnut Grove on Tuesday in a Region 8-AA contest.
White County will play host to fellow Region 7-AAA opponent West Forsyth Tuesday intheir final game before the holiday break. The Lady Warriors will open their 7A-AAA schedule Jan. 2 at home against Creekview.
