Sketch prompts tips in case of missing NE Ga. woman

By The Associated Press
BLAIRSVILLE - Investigators say a sketch of a possible suspect in the case of a missing Blairsville mother has prompted dozens of tips since Monday.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation on Monday released a description of the suspect and a vehicle that may have been involved in Kristi Cornwell's disappearance. (See earlier story.) GBI spokesman John Bankhead says dozens of tips have come in since then. Investigators say the same SUV may be tied to an attempted abduction of a woman in Ranger, N.C., on Aug. 2 and Cornwell's abduction on Aug. 11.

Cornwell, 38, disappeared while walking near her parents' home in Union County. Her family is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to her safe return and auctioned their lakefront vacation home to raise money.
