ATHENS -- Porsha Phillips and No. 13 Georgia revved up their suffocating defense to pick up an easy victory.
Phillips had 13 points and 13 rebounds to help the Lady Bulldogs beat Alabama-Birmingham 71-42 on Tuesday night.
UAB (2-5) shot 26 percent (15 for 57) from the field and committed 17 turnovers.
"We basically are throwing three things at you," Georgia coach Andy Landers said. "We press you full court. We've got a zone that we threw at them tonight that's really aggressive and pushes you away from the basket. Then we go man and really try to get after you.
"The combination of the three keeps you on your heels. Instead of being able to attack offensively, you feel like you're being attacked."
Anne Marie Armstrong had 11 points and Meredith Mitchell finished with 10 for the Lady Bulldogs (7-0), who never trailed. Angel Robinson had 10 points and nine rebounds in her first game back since suffering a concussion against Rutgers on Nov. 22.
"I feel a lot better than I did a week ago," Robinson said. "I don't have any neck pains. The headache's gone away so I'm trying to get back to my normal self."
Tamika Dukes scored 12 points for UAB, and Amber Jones had nine.
"I was looking for my team to come out and compete and play as hard as they possibly could," Blazers coach Audra Smith said. "We knew we were undersized coming in here, but my goal was to execute as efficiently as possible."
Georgia outrebounded the Blazers 49-31. Armstrong had three of the Lady Bulldogs' 12 steals.
"Coach wanted us to harass and attack and get steals and get deflections," Mitchell said. "He wanted us working so hard on the press, especially with Porsha working her long arms and quickness. She really caused them problems. We got on top of them and got ahead and pretty much shut them down before we knew it."
