Johnson named top ACC coach again

By The Associated Press
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Despite a season-ending loss to rival Georgia, Georgia Tech's Paul Johnson is the Atlantic Coast Conference's coach of the year again.

The Yellow Jackets coach on Tuesday was the overwhelming choice as the ACC's top coach for the second straight year.

He received 24 of a possible 40 votes cast by members of the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association. His counterpart in this week's ACC championship game, Clemson's Dabo Swinney, was second with 10. Duke's David Cutcliffe had four votes and Boston College's Frank Spaziani had two.

Johnson has won the coaching award in each of his two seasons leading the Yellow Jackets. This year's team won the Coastal Division for the first time since 2006 and reached the top 10 while running Johnson's option-based offense.
