DANIELSVILLE - Madison County commissioners say they've found a way to avoid having to force workers to take unpaid furloughs.
Instead, the north Georgia county will cut the workers' holiday pay in half. Commissioners say reducing the pay for the county's 10 paid holidays will cut about $112,000 from county spending.
Commission chairman Anthony Dove says reducing the holiday pay has the same impact as a five-day furlouggh, but there's no impact on service.
