TOCCOA - Jackson County finished off its best season since 1993 Friday night with a shocking 26-23 win over Stephens County at The Reservation.
It was the first-ever win for the Panthers (4-6) over the Indians in six tries. In fact, Jackson County had scored a total of just three points against Stephens County until Friday.
The lead changed hands five times with the Panthers taking the final lead 26-21 on a 17-yard pass from Jalen Banks to Zach Sticher late in the fourth quarter. Stephens County mounted one last drive but the Panthers' defense stopped the Indians on downs at the Jackson 23 with 1:06 left and then ran out the clock.
Banks finished with two TD passes for Jackson County. Charlie Waycaster had the key play scoring on a 78-yard reverse pass in the third quarter to give the Panthers their first lead since the first quarter.
Darion Rollins had a touchdown run of 32 yards and John Holton had one TD catch for the Panthers.
