Piedmont, NGTC reach Business School agreement

By Staff
DEMOREST - Piedmont College and North Georgia Technical College (NGTC) have expanded their working relationship.

Following closely on the heels of the recent LPN to RN bridge agreement signed earlier in October, the two schools have finalized an articulation agreement that will allow NGTC's Associate of Applied Sciences (AAS) degree graduates to enter Piedmont College's Walker School of Business. NGTC's AAS degree graduates in Accounting and Business Administrative Technology (BAT) may apply to pursue a bachelor's degree with a major in Business Administration.

NGTC Accounting graduates have the opportunity to enter Piedmont College as Degree Completion students which means that they could possibly complete the bachelor's degree in two years if they attend full time. The BAT graduates will enter as regular transfer students since they will not have quite as much transferrable coursework to qualify for Degree Completion status.

"This is a great opportunity for some of our business students," said NGTC Vice President of Academic Affairs Vicki Nichols. "Attending NGTC and then transferring to Piedmont may be an option for students seeking scholarship and grant opportunities that make education affordable."

Ms. Nichols is making arrangements for Dr. John Misner, Dean of Piedmont's Walker School of Business, to meet with students on the NGTC campus to discuss these transfer options.

"This articulation agreement will help make the transition virtually seamless for those NGTC graduates wishing to pursue a bachelor's degree to be accepted into the Walker School of Business here at Piedmont College," said Misner.
