MT. AIRY - Habersham Central's slim playoff chances came to a crashing ended Friday night as the Raiders were whipped 34-14 by Rockdale County at Raider Stadium in Region 8-AAAA action.

Habersham central (4-5, 4-5 in region) controlled its playoff destiny coming into the game. The Raiders would have been playoff bound with season-ending wins over Rockdale County and Salem next week.

Now, the Raiders are on the outside looking in as the loss knocks them out of playoff contention.

Habersham Central took an early 7-6 lead over the Bulldogs (5-3, 5-3) in the first quarter but Rockdale County responded with 21 unanswered points for a 27-7 lead late in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.

Kevin Ellison was held to 77 yards and one touchdown and Austin Brown was harrassed all night into his toughest outing of the season with just three completions and three interceptions. Brown did connect with Jamaal Walters on a 64-yard TD pass to cut the lead to 27-14 but the Raiders would get no closer.
