Volleyball: No. 1 St. Pius knocks out North Hall

ATLANTA - North Hall gave No. 1 St. Pius all it could handle Tuesday night in the Sweet 16 of the Class AAA girls state volleyball tournament.

But in the end the Lady Golden Lions (34-14) proved too strong for the Lady Trojans in taking a three game sweep - 25-14, 25-18, 25-19 - in their best-of-five match.

North Hall (28-15) improved with each game against the powerful Golden Lions, who have dropped just one game in their last six matches overall (15-1 in games) the last two weeks.

Evann Rowland had another huge match for North Hall with 12 kills, three blocks, five digs, and one ace. Kathryn Bell had 18 assists, two kills, and three digs for the Lady Trojans.

Lauren Gregory added two kills and six digs and Megan Cox had five digs for North Hall.
