JASPER - North Hall moved to within one game of clinching its fourth straight trip to the state playoffs after routing Pickens 39-0 Friday night.
The Trojans (5-2, 3-0 in Region 7A-AAA) can clinch a playoff spot with a win over arch-rival Chestatee (4-3, 3-1) on the road next week. North Hall owns the head-to-head tiebreaker over third-place Creekview (6-1, 2-1) after knocking off the Grizzlies 45-21 three weeks ago.
Against Pickens (1-6, 0-4) the North Hall defense pitched its second shutout in three games and limited the Dragons to just over 100 total yards for the game.
Quarterback Nathan Jones had 75 yards passing and one touchdown to lead North Hall. Trevor Ross caught one TD pass for the Trojans.
Jordan Chaffin had nine carries for 99 yards and Peyton Wilhoite had six carries for 45 yards.
