OAKWOOD - Lumpkin County scored 34 unanswered points to run away with a 41-13 win over West Hall Friday in Region 7-AAA play at West Hall Stadium.
The Indians (4-3) broke a 7-7 tie in the second quarter on a Michael Flanagan touchdown in the closing moments of the first half. Lumpkin then opened the second half with a long scoring drive to push its lead to 21-7.
After that, the wheels fell off for West Hall (0-8). The Spartans had two turnovers on their first two second half possessions that led to 14 more Lumpkin points, including a fumble recovery for a touchdown by Chad Fulton that made it 35-7 just four minutes into the second half.
Flanagan added another touchdown, Taylor Guthrie caught one TD pass, and Jake McClure scored twice for the Indians as they eventually led 41-7. West Hall scored its final touchdown on a Shunquez Stephens touchdown pass.
