By Jeff Hart Sports Reporter
It was not a good day for Region 7-AAA in the first round of the Class AAA playoffs Tuesday.

Only top seed Creekview managed to advance taking a pair of wins - 6-0 and 5-1 - over Central-Carroll at home.

Region 7-AAA was matched up against region 6-AAA from the northwest part of the state. No. 2 seed White County was swept 8-0 and 4-0 by Ridgeland; third seeded West Hall lost in two games to Heritage-Catoosa 5-1 and -4 in eight innings; and No. 4 seed Lumpkin County was whipped 7-0 and 11-1 by Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe.

Creekview got a pair of solid pitching performances from Haley Brannon, who earned the win in oth games. The Lady Grizzlies also found their stroke at the plate pounding out 24 hits in the two games.

Emerie Germ led the attack with four hits, including a home run, and four RBI in the two games. Brannon had four hits and one RBI and London Germ added four hits and scored three runs.

Creekview next will take on No. 2-ranked and defending state champion Oconee County in the second round beginning Friday in Canton.

"That was probably the best we've swung the bats all year," Creekview coach Mike Nayman said. "Now we just have to get ready for Oconee. We know it's going to be tough but I like how we're playing right now."

For West Hall, it was a tough ending as the Lady Spartans could not hold a late lead in Game 2 of its series.

After dropping the opening game 5-1 to Heritage-Catoosa, the Lady Spartans led 4-1 going into the top of seventh inning in game 2 and was just one out from sending it to a third and deciding game. but they could finish it as the Lady Generals got fur straight hits to tie the game at 4-4 and then added three more in the eighth inning to complete the comeback.

"I thought the girls played well in both games," West Hall coach Warren Sellers said. "They just got some big hits when they needed them. We knew they would be tough. We just proud of how te girls played and improved all season."
