Gwinnett officials ID 3 sisters killed in fire

By The Associated Press
DULUTH -- Authorities have identified the three sisters who died after becoming trapped by a fire in their Duluth townhome.

Ted Bailey with the Gwinnett County Medical Examiner's Office said Sunday that the victims are: 12-year-old Amirra Wingfield, 17-year-old Dairien Wingfield and 19-year-old LaToya Jackson. The girls' mother escaped the Friday blaze by jumping unharmed off a back balcony.

The two younger sisters died later Friday night at Gwinnett Medical Center. Jackson died late Saturday night.

Fire fighters found the girls huddled in a third-floor closet. They were badly burned and unconscious from smoke inhalation.

Investigators believe the fire started in a bedroom on the first level. The cause is under investigation
