HOSCHTON - Class AAAAA No. 10 Peachtree Ridge got another stellar performnace from the defense in a 28-0 Region 7-AAAAA win over Mill Creek Friday night.
It was the third shutout in the last four games for the Lions (5-0, 4-1 in region) who have now won four straight.
The win also sets up a showdown with Collins (6-0, 4-0) next week in the first major battle for first place in the region.
Peachtree Ridge started slow leading just 7-0 after the first quarter. But again it was defense that got the Lions going.
Mill Creek was mounting a potential game-tying drive early in the second quarter when the Lions picked off a pass and returned it for a touchdown and a 14-0 lead. The Hawks (2-4, 1-3) never recovered as Peachtree Ridge used 14 third quarter quarter points to put the game away.
