Job fair planned in Toccoa

ATLANTA - State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond says the Georgia Department of Labor's Toccoa Career Center, along with several other local organizations, will sponsor a job fair for employers and job seekers in the area.

The event will be held Friday from 1-3 p.m. on the Currahee Campus of North Georgia Technical College, located at 8989 Georgia Highway 17 South in Toccoa. Other sponsors of the job fair include: the Northeast Georgia Employer Committee, Toccoa-Stephens County Chamber of Commerce, and North Georgia Technical College.

"Our job fairs have long proven to be effective tools for matching good employers with qualified job seekers," said Commissioner Thurmond. "I encourage job seekers to attend and take full advantage of the resources that will be available at the job fair, as well as those at the Georgia Department of Labor's Toccoa Career Center."

The event will feature about 45 employers. Some will be hiring, while others will be discussing possible future employment opportunities with the job seekers and other organizations will be providing educational and other resources. Applicants should bring plenty of resumes and be prepared to fill out company applications and interview for available job openings.

Employers expected to participate in the event include: Carry-On Trailers, Cedar Farms and Construction, Eaton Corporation, Employment Staffing, Etcon Staffing Services, Farmer's Furniture, Fenner Dunlop, Flexstaff Services, First Franklin Financial, GEM Southeast, Home Depot, Kelly Services, Liberty National Insurance, Maurice's, Nurse Management Services, Old Navy, Patterson Pump, Primerica Financial Services, Royston LLC, Standard Register, Stephens County Hospital, The Gap, Toccoa Clinic, Tugalo Construction, Tupperware, U.S. Census Bureau, U.S. Army, United Insurance Company, Wellstone Mills and Zoegetics.
