MT. AIRY - Habersham Central saw its two-game win streak come to an end Friday night in a 35-6 loss to Madison County in a key Region 8-AAAA game at Raider Stadium.
Habersham (3-3, 3-3 in region) never got untracked offensively against Madison County (5-1, 5-1). The Raiders had just 85 total yards and gained just 25 yards rushing on 23 attempts for the game.
One week after tying or setting two school records, Habersham's David Griffin was held to just 24 yards on 10 carries.
Madison County, meanwhile, piled up 274 yards, led by Kendric Butler, who had 101 yards and two touchdowns.
Habersham never led in the game and trailed 14-0 at halftime and was down 21-0 before Tyler Jackson scored the Raiders' only touchdown in the third quarter.
It doesn't get any easier for the Raiders next week as they will play host to No. 9 and undefeated Apalachee (5-0, 5-0) in a must-win game if they want to stay alive in Region 8-AAAA.
