OAKWOOD - Seven people have been displaced after fire destroyed a home in the 3300 block of Apache Circle in Oakwood.
Hall County Fire Chief David Kimbrell said the American Red Cross is helping the 5 adults and 2 children who lived in the home.
"The children came out (of a bedroom) and told the adult that the room was on fire," said Kimbrell.
The three people in the home at the time escaped without injury. Damage estimates to the 1800-square-foot house have been placed at $80,000.
Kimbrell said the cause of the fire was due to a faulty electrical outlet, not children playing with fire as was initially suspected.
