COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio reports one more case related to the nationwide salmonella outbreak, keeping the state's total the highest in the nation.
The Ohio Department of Health said Monday that the state's 68 cases have been seen in people ranging from 2 months to 89 years old. Twenty have been hospitalized, and one death may have been related to a salmonella infection.
A Georgia peanut butter plant at the center of the salmonella investigation has stopped production and laid off most of its workers.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has counted about 500 cases of salmonella in 43 states, and the bacteria may have contributed to at least seven deaths nationwide.
