DAHLONEGA -- North Georgia College and State University jumped all over the Cougars in the opening minutes and never looked back, taking down Columbus State University 80-65 in front of over 2,000 fans Wednesday evening in Memorial Hall.
The Saints electrified the crowd from the opening tip, jumping out to a 16-6 lead on their way to a 44-26 halftime advantage. North Georgia used nine fastbreak points in the opening period for an 18-point lead at intermission.
Columbus State cut the lead down to seven points with just over six minutes remaining, but the Saints answered right back and used clutch free throws and timely shooting to bring the crowd to their feet in the final minutes to celebrate a 15-point victory, North Georgiaâ
