Fugitive was wanted in Hall, Lumpkin counties

GAINESVILLE - A man wanted by Hall County authorities on a long list of theft-elated charges, who was caught Wednesday night in Commerce, was also wanted in Lumpkin County and in North Carolina.

Col. Jeff Strickland, spokesman for the Hall County Sheriff's Office, said Thursday afternoon Richard David Anderson, 43, of Gainesville was picked up at the Scottish Inn at Banks Crossing in Commerce around 7:00 by sheriff's deputies and U.S. Marshals. "He had been on the run for several months," Col. Strickland added.

The charges against him include burglaries and some involving chop shops, where stolen vehicles and equipment are taken to be cut up so that the parts can be sold separately. In addition to charges in Hall County, Anderson faces charges in Lumpkin County and in Henderson County, N.C.

The charges facing Anderson in Hall County are:

1. Superior Court Bench Warrant (Harass by Phone)
2. Superior Court Bench Warrant (Influence Testimony)
3. Superior Court Bench Warrant (Terroristic Threats)
4. Chop Shop & Altered Property
5. Theft by Receiving (M)
6. Burglary
7. Entering Auto
8. Criminal Trespass
9. State Court Probation Warrant
10. Hold for Lumpkin County
11. Hold for Henderson County, NC
