Lanier up 2 feet in 2 days

By Ken Stanford Contributing Editor
UNDATED - The level of Lake Lanier continues its dramatic increase... up almost two feet in just two days. A month ago, it was 4.5 feet lower than it is today.

Meanwhile, Gainesville picked up another .57 of an inch of rain yesterday, bringing the total this week to 5.68 inches and for the new year to 5.92 inches.

What does this mean as far as the drought is concerned?

The state climatologist, David Stooksbury, tells Channel 2 Action News we need to be careful about relaxing water restrictions and other conservation measures imposed at the height of drought "to make sure we really are out of the drought and this is now just a blip."
