By Ken Stanford Contributing Editor
UNDATED - A group of students and teachers from West Hall Middle School is traveling to Washington for the presidential inauguration later this month as is the Flowery Branch High School band.

According to their principal, Sarah Justus, the students will be part of a national study group that "reviews our democratic heritage, the election process, and the inauguration process/pageantry." Dr. Justus said the students and teachers hope to send news reports back to be broadcast from the West Hall Middle School Web site.

The Flowery Branch High School Band will also be making the trip. The band will not be in the Inauguration Parade but will attend a number of Inauguaration-related events.

They are not the only ones from Hall County planning a trip to Washington for Barack Oboma's swearing-in Jan. 20. We've learned of at least four other families or individuals who are expecting to attend.

In addition, Hall County Democratic Party officials say a group from Gainesville State College expects to make the trip. The newly-elected treasuer of the party is also planning to attend. (See separate story.)
