Milloy could face alcoholism evaluation

By The Associated Press
FLOWERY BRANCH - Atlanta Falcons coach Mike Smith offered no details of potential discipline that Lawyer Milloy could face following the safety's arrest on a drunken driving charge early Monday.

Gwinnett County police charged the 34-year-old Milloy with DUI and speeding.

Under the league's substance abuse policy and program, a DUI conviction could result in Milloy getting tested, evaluated and treated for alcoholism. Commissioner Roger Goodell and the Falcons also could impose fines, but Smith gave no details.

Milloy issued a one-sentence statement through his lawyer Manny Arora, apologizing to the team, his family, and Falcons fans. The four-time Pro Bowl selection helped New England win its first Super Bowl in February 2002.

The Falcons (1-1) fell to Tampa Bay 24-9 this past Sunday and play host to Kansas City this weekend.
