Bulldogs begin preperations for Arizona St.

By Staff reports
ATHENS -- Boasting a 3-0 record, the third-ranked Georgia football team on Monday kicked off preparations for its game with Arizona State.

The Bulldogs are 3-0 after defeating Georgia Southern, Central Michigan and South Carolina. On Saturday, the Bulldogs will visit Arizona State, which sports a 2-1 record.

As per their normal Monday routine, the Bulldogs did conditioning for the
first part and ended with special teams work.

"We have a great opportunity this week because we're playing a great team on national television," Georgia coach Mark Richt said. "We have to do things the right way to have a chance to win. Tonight, we worked on introducing the kicking plan and working out any soreness the guys might have. We need a good week of preparation, and we got off to a good start tonight."

Richt announced the captains for this week's game will be tailback Knowshon Moreno and tackle Clint Boling on offense, linebacker Rennie Curran on defense, and punter Brian Mimbs on special teams.

Earlier Monday, the league office announced that Curran has been named the Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Week. Curran had six tackles and added a sack and two quarterback pressures against the Gamecocks. Curran highlighted his performance by forcing a fumble late in the fourth quarter when he drilled South Carolina's Mike Davis on the Georgia 1-yard line. Georgia teammate Asher Allen recovered the fumble in the end zone to help clinch the win.

Curran's forced fumble has been nominated as one of four candidates for the "Pontiac Game Changing Performance." Fans can vote for this play until midnight on Wednesday at promo.espn.go.com/espn/contests/pontiacgcp, and ESPN will announce this week's winner on Thursday night during the Pontiac G6 Halftime Report.

Also Monday, it was announced that Georgia's Sept. 27 game against Alabama in Athens will be televised by ESPN and will kick off at 7:45 p.m.

The No. 3 Bulldogs travel to Tempe, Ariz., to face Arizona State on Saturday, Sept 20. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:13 p.m. on ABC. All Georgia games are broadcast live on the Bulldog Radio Network on WDUN AM-550. The radio audio
also can be heard worldwide on both georgiadogs.com, the official website of
