By The Associated Press
ATLANTA - Government agencies and schools around Georgia are remembering the seventh anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Gov. Sonny Perdue has ordered all flags at state buildings to fly at half-staff until sunset Thursday.

At Chestatee Middle School in Hall County, about 200 students and staff members heard remarks from Gainesville Fire Chief Jon Canada and Hall County Fire Marshal Scott Cagle, who talked about their remembrances of the terrorist attacks and how their faith helps them get through their jobs day-in and day-out.

There was a service at 9:45 in front of the Gainesville Public Safety Building on Jesse Jewell Parkway to mark the time the second tower at the World Trade Center collapsed. Firefighters stood at attention in the middle of the street for the brief ceremony.

Forsyth County remembered 9/11 by honoring its public safety personnel during the annual Liberty Garden Ceremony. Held at the Central Park Recreation Center and organized by Keep Forsyth County Beautiful, the ceremony included remarks by Forsyth County Fire Chief Danny Bowman, a by the Forsyth Central High School "Maskers", and the Honor Guards from both the Forsyth County Fire Department and Sheriff's Office.

The Gwinnett County Fire Department held a moment of silence over its radio channels at 8:46 a.m. - the time the first plane struck the World Trade Center.

Georgia Tech students are displaying 2,977 American flags on campus to represent each victim and survivor. The school scheduled a ceremony at 11 a.m. at the Campanile fountain.

At the University of Georgia in Athens, the Army ROTC hosted a flag raising and 5K run at 6:30 a.m.
