KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee quarterback Jonathan Crompton knows he'll get a better feel for how quickly he must get rid of the ball with more playing time.
The junior struggled with his timing in a 27-24 overtime loss to UCLA, completing only 19 of 41 passes for 189 yards, no touchdowns and an interception against the Bruins.
Crompton says as he gets more playing time, he'll have a better feel for just how long he has to get rid of the ball. Better timing will help prevent costly sacks and turnovers.
The Vols spent their off week focusing on improving such fundamentals as offensive timing.
Fulmer said he'd like to move the pocket a bit more for Crompton to give him the option of tucking the ball and running when passing appears futile.
