BUFORD -- The Class AA No. 1-ranked Buford girls softball team swept all three games in the Buford-Forsyth Central Invitational Tournament Saturday.
The Lady Wolves (11-2) outscored their opponents 29-4 in taking wins over Union County (6-4), Chestatee (15-0), and Jefferson (8-0) as two Buford pitchers recorded no-hitters.
Sophomore Tricia Warbington threw a no-hitter against Chestatee stricking out six and walking two five innings of work. Against Jefferson, sophomore Melissa Dickie threw a no-hitter fanning 11 batters and walking only two in five innings.
Offensively Buford had several players with big games. Against Union County junior Samantha Ramey had two hits and three RBI, senior Whitney Holman had two hits two RBI, and scored two runs. Freshman Kallie Case also had two hits.
Against Chestatee, sophomore Chelsie Thomas paced the offense with four hits, one RBI and scoring three runs. Junior Alysha Rudnik had two hits, including a triple, four RBI and two runs scored and junior Ansley Kozloski had two hits, two RBI and scored twice.
Against Jefferson, sophomores Whitney Wolfe and Dickie each had three hits. Junior Alysha Rudnik had two hits and two RBI and freshman Lexi Overstreet had two doubles.
