Chestnut Mountain drowning victim identified

By B.J. Williams
CHESTNUT MOUNTAIN - A Suwanee teenager drowned Sunday after he apparently slipped and hit his head on a rock in a creek.

Hall County authorities said Martin Campa, 18, had been visiting Eagle Ranch with his father. Campa was a former resident of the boys' ranch and had returned specifically for a fishing trip with his father.

Fire Chief David Kimbrell said authorities responded to the scene around 4:30 p.m. Sunday. "His dad was fishing in the area, and his dad was actually the one who discovered him in the water," Kimbrell said. "He was on the scene (with his son) when we arrived."

An autopsy will be performed Tuesday.
