DAHLONEGA - The Lumpkin County Development Authority and the Dahlonega-Lumpkin County Chamber of Commerce recently welcomed Teton Industrial Construction Inc. to Lumpkin County.
Teton President Jim Watson and Equipment Manager John Turner invited more than 100 Teton employees and local business, government and community leaders over for barbecue at its new location in the Development Authority's Red Oak Industrial Park.
Teton's neighbors on Red Oak Flats Road include needle roller bearing producer The Timken Company, which opened a 10,000 square foot distribution facility supporting its Dahlonega manufacturing plant last year, and Candler Concrete Products, Inc., which is building a concrete plant and developing additional industrial lots. Redd Manufacturing/Concept One Pulley Systems and Duncan Pipeline, Inc., have purchased lots in the park and plan to build facilities and relocate their operations to the park soon.
Teton is based in Alpharetta and is a member of the employee owned, century-old PCL family of companies. The heavy industrial general contractor constructs such projects as power plants, industrial process installations, pulp and paper mills, mining operations and industrial gas facilities. The new location, a 10,000 square foot building on 5 acres, serves as a district tool and equipment distribution center.
The Lumpkin County facility, much larger than the company's previous equipment center in Alpharetta, employs eight people now, and eventually will likely employ up to a dozen.
"Lumpkin County has exceeded our expectations as a location for this operation," said Turner, who cites proximity to Georgia 400, competitive land prices and the can-do attitude of the Development Authority and others involved in the relocation project among the reasons.
