COMMERCE -- Darius Minor passed for 128 yards and ran for another 106 to lead Jefferson to a 35-14 win over arch-rival Commerce friday night in both teams' 2008 football openers.
Minor was 13-of-15 passing with two touchdown passes and ran for scores of 44 and 62 yards as the Dragons (1-0) built a 21-0 lead and then held off a Commerce rally in the second half.
Zac Crosby and Lucas Redd each one TD catch for Jefferson in the win.
Commerce (0-1) cut the lead to 21-7 on one of two TD runs by quarterback Phillip Edwards. Jon Cash led the Tigers with 118 yards on 22 carries.
It was the second straight win in the series for Jefferson after dropping 12 straight games to its cross-county rival.
