MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Jacksonville State quarterback Ryan Perrilloux is preparing for his first game with his new team.
The former LSU player will debut with the Gamecocks on Thursday night at Georgia Tech. It's the same city he had one of his biggest games for LSU.
He was the MVP of the Southeastern Conference championship game in Atlanta last season for the defending national champions.
Perrilloux said it helps that he's used to playing in front of big crowds. He said the key is just to execute the game plan and not try to do too much.
Largely due to Perrilloux's presence, the Gamecocks were picked to win the Ohio Valley Conference. That's still a long way from the Yellow Jackets' Atlantic Coast Conference.
Once the nation's top prep prospect, Perrilloux was kicked off the LSU team for off-the-field problems. Those included skipping classes, missing a team meeting and getting caught trying to use a false ID to get into a Baton Rouge casino.
